Weight Loss & Management in NW Calgary

Medically supervised weight management at Edgemont is delivered by Edgemont Weight Management Clinic — our dedicated weight clinic, in the same building as the pharmacy at Bay 6, 34 Edgedale Dr NW.

The clinic is pharmacist-led by Wessam Sakr, BScPharm, RPh — a Certified Bariatric Educator and Certified Diabetes Educator with more than nine years of direct patient care. Every plan starts with a full clinical assessment, and no referral is needed to begin.

Here is how the clinic and the pharmacy work together:

  • The clinic assesses and prescribes — health history review, suitability for GLP-1 therapy, dose titration planning and scheduled follow-ups. See programs and pricing.
  • The pharmacy dispenses and monitors — we fill and cold-store your medication, screen it against everything else you take, and walk you through injection technique.
  • One location, one team — nothing to carry between a clinic and a pharmacy on opposite sides of the city.
  • Structured follow-up — dose changes and side effects get handled by people who already know your file.

Most people arrive after diets, apps and willpower have already let them down. That is not a willpower problem — obesity is a chronic medical condition, and it responds to medical treatment. Book a consultation or call the clinic at (587) 592-2900.

Programs Offered at the Weight Clinic

Every program at Edgemont Weight Management Clinic is medically supervised and priced up front. Medication and OPTIFAST® product costs are billed separately.

  • Peptide-Based (GLP-1) Program — $155 total. An $80 initial consultation plus three monthly dose-optimization follow-ups. This is the usual starting point.
  • Core Medical Weight Management + GLP-1 — $500 for 3 months. Comprehensive assessment, four follow-up visits, a personalized nutrition and lifestyle plan, and body composition tracking.
  • Core Medical Weight Management + GLP-1 — $900 for 6 months. Extended support for sustained results and long-term metabolic improvement.
  • Intensive GLP-1 + OPTIFAST® Reset — $1,100 for 3 months. An OPTIFAST® intensive phase with weekly or bi-weekly monitoring and behavioural coaching.
  • Comprehensive GLP-1 + OPTIFAST® Transformation — $1,500 for 6 months. The most complete option, including a structured transition back to food and maintenance planning.

GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®) are prescribed only when clinically appropriate after assessment. If you want to read up first, the clinic explains how the medications compare, what side effects to expect, and what treatment costs in Calgary.

How It Works

There is no guesswork and no fad protocol. Care follows the same three stages for everyone, adjusted to what your assessment actually shows.

  • 1. Clinical assessment — a full review of your health history, medications and goals (with bloodwork where indicated) to confirm what is safe and appropriate for you.
  • 2. Personalized care plan — an evidence-based plan combining education, lifestyle guidance and medication when it is clinically warranted.
  • 3. Ongoing follow-up — scheduled visits to adjust the dose, monitor tolerability, track progress and keep you accountable.

Programs are led by a Certified Bariatric Educator, so the education you get is current and the clinical decisions are documented. Read about the clinician or check the clinic’s FAQ before you book.

The Pharmacy Side of Your Plan

That is exactly why the model is pharmacist-led. Your prescriptions are reviewed at assessment and again at dispensing, so interactions and contraindications are caught before you start rather than after. Tolerability and side effects are monitored at every scheduled follow-up.
